Pad depth, rotor condition, fluid spec, and torque values from the factory book.
Check pad thickness whenever you're under the car. Swap pads before they hit minimum; turn or replace rotors if they're grooved. Torque caliper bolts to spec and bed new pads with a few moderate stops before you lean on them.
Match brake fluid DOT rating to the Freightliner manual — mixing grades is a bad day in the pits.
